What’s the worst section of 485?
I’m familiar with the pain that is the southern leg of 485 — where 77 dumps a huge 2 lane exit bridge and a couple of other exits from 4 to lanes in a couple of hundred feet (real smart) and don’t give me the excuse that Union County wasn’t suppossed to grow - if you spend the money on the 2 lane exit ramp from the major interstate in the area then you need to also build lanes to accommodate the exit — but is this the worst part (I certainly hope so).

03/18/08: The Mayor, The Rep & The Gov
I had heard rumors that the reason the 485 ‘bypass’s’ capacity didn’t match it’s obvious demand was because of State Politics and that the Poli’s that make the funding decisions weren’t from this part of the State but I had chalked that up to people speculating and embellishing… after reading just 1 letter each from the Mayor and Rep Myrick I can’t believe that this in fact the true reason behind why desperately needed construction is not taking place now. I used to just think nobody important cared that the ‘bypass’ (which is meant to avoid traffic by going around the city and thus the congestion) was a parking lot for hours each day. Now that I realize there are important people that care and that it’s the fact that the state and by association the Governor doesn’t treat Charlotte as THE city in NC and one of the fastest growing in the country it really pisses me off.
